Not on viewLabel TextThis strong and energetic image of a flock of bluebills diving through the air captures the same sense of speed that Darling sought to depict. The contrasting markings and blunted bodies of the bluebills help give power to the impression of an instant of flight. The unfinished landscape and lightly drawn low-flying ducks in the background also contribute to the sense of immediacy. No contemporary impression is known. The copper plate (plate inventory #45) is extant and one restrike impression was made in 1983 for documentation. (per Amy Worthen)
